Chinese (Lunar) New Year
Chinese New Year or the Lunar New Year is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. The festival begins on the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar and culminates with the Lantern Festival on the 15th day. The main day of feasting is Chinese New Year's Eve where families gather for their annual reunion dinner Traditional foods include pigs, ducks, chicken, and sweets. New Years Day, Children receive gifts of money in red paper envelopes. The New Year is a happy time of looking ahead to a brighter future and a time to forget past slights and wish for peace and happiness for everyone.
